Ya’ll this is a good one! A few weeks ago we traveled to Philadelphia, PA for a wedding that gave us all the feels. We LOVE downtown/modern vibe weddings, that mix a little classic and new, and Lauren and Scott gave it to us! Lauren is a Philly native, and wanted to make sure that the Philly vibe was weaved throughout their entire wedding day. She chose to get ready at the Loews Hotel, where her super sweet group of girls helped her get ready, and her mother lovingly doted on her the entire morning. The father and daughter first look – ya’ll it got me! Lauren met Scott on a super private floor at the hotel for their first look, and Scott was ever dapper in his Dress Blues. Seriously, these two had amazing style!
They held a super romantic ceremony at St. John the Evangelist, a church located in the heart of Center City, and they did a full mass – it was so touching and romantic! We absolutely love when we get to experience Catholic weddings with our couples! Following that we headed to their reception at the Belle Voir Manor, located right along the Delaware River. It 1000% did not disappoint, as you can tell from all the beautiful details with their reception space and setup.
I hope you enjoy Lauren and Scott’s wedding as much as we did. We would seriously return to Philly in a heartbeat, especially considering Rob considers himself the biggest dang Eagles fan ever, LOL.
There are lots of Philly elements- it was important to me to incorporate my hometown (also the city that has completely shaped my career), especially with our upcoming move this summer; I wanted to always be able to look back at pictures and keepsakes from the day and see the city in them. But overall, I feel like Scott and I just feel so blessed to have found one another and grateful for the love that we share and wanted the whole event to reflect that and to wrap our guests up in that same feeling. It’s getting kind of dusty in here…
In a word? Whirlwind! We got engaged August 19, 2018 and married March 2, 2019. The first two months or so were stressful while we nailed down a date and venue, and while I looked for a dress. But truly as soon as those things were taken care of, everything just became fun, and I’ve just been trying to soak up and enjoy as much of our short engagement period as I can! I can be a pretty intense, hyper-organized, type-A person (especially in my professional life), but I feel like I’ve been a surprisingly laid back bride. We’ve also been fortunate to have really supportive and helpful and generous family and friends, without whom this day would definitely not be possible.
Really try not to get caught up in what you’re “supposed” to do or have or include in your day. It can be so easy to look at other peoples’ weddings and think, “they had X, Y, or Z, so I HAVE to have X, Y, or Z,” even if XYZ is totally out of your budget or something that you genuinely have no personal interest in. If invites and stationary aren’t a big deal to you, don’t let anyone else bully you into feeling they have to be a big deal and huge chunk of your budget. If you and your fiance don’t like cake, don’t let other people make you feel like you HAVE to have one anyway. It’s your wedding- it should be a reflection of you and what’s important to you, not anybody else.
Thank you to this fab vendor team for making Lauren and Scott’s wedding day amazing!
